A professionally trained fashion designer with a deep passion for colours, silhouettes, and functionality, May Joy began her career as a fashion design faculty at the Kitex Institute, where she mentored aspiring designers before charting her own entrepreneurial journey. In 2012, driven by a strong vision to fill a long-ignored gap in women’s fashion, she launched Ziva Maternity Wear with just a few sewing machines and an unwavering belief in purposeful design. What sets May Joy apart is her meticulous approach to understanding motherhood through design. She conducted over two years of intensive research, measuring and studying the changing bodies of more than 1,000 pregnant women, enabling Ziva to create scientifically accurate sizing, adaptive fits, and garments that evolve seamlessly from pregnancy to postpartum. Her designs strike a balance between high fashion and everyday functionality, utilising breathable, natural fabrics and refined construction to offer comfort without compromising sophistication. Under her leadership, Ziva has grown from a modest startup into a trusted maternity fashion destination, now boasting 30+ stores across South India.
